GEM Obsession: Chlorella 🌿

Welcome chlorella -- Spurlina’s green sister and best friend! This is one superstar sister duo, just like Serena and Venus 💪🏼👯‍♀️

What is it 🤔?

Chlorella is a single-celled green freshwater algae with a long history as a food source because of its composition of macro and micro-nutrients.

Why do we love Chlorella so much here at GEM?

First off, Chlorella is filled with a unique composition of 40 unique nutrients including protein, omega 3s, fats, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Chlorophyll, the green pigment in plants that allows the plant to go through the process of photosynthesis to make glucose the component, is the component in chlorella which drives its potential to be an excellent food source. Actually, Chlorella’s photosynthetic efficiency exceed the highly efficient sugar cane.

Chlorella, like spirulina, has been proven to carry lots of health benefits because of its high nutrient density. It works to rid the body of toxins by binding itself to heavy metals and other toxins found in the body. It also has been proven to strengthen the immune system and contains antioxidants which fight chronic illnesses. Chlorella also works to lower cholesterol and keep blood pressure under control (1). The list of health benefits goes on and on!

Long story short, Chlorella is a nutritious food that people should be munching on and GEM is here to help you do that!

Fun fact about our lovely water plant:

Research has shown that it can be used as a biodiesel fuel as well as power for solar plants. So not only can it feed humans, but it can also feed and support sustainable power sources!
