Dr. Jeff Egler, MD is board certified
American Board of Family Medicine and has completed the certification training with the Institute of Functional Medicine. He graduated from Drekel University School of Medicine in Philadelphia and completed his residency training at the University of Colorado in Boulder. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Academic Medicine/ Faculty Development at UCLA before practicing the full spectrum of family medicine in a group practice in South Lake Tahoe for 5 years, Jeff was an Assistant Clinical Professor and residency Director of Health Information Technology at the University of Southern California for 5 years while obtaining a Master's Degree in Spiritual Psychology.

Vanessa Rissetto is a registered dietitian, the Co-founder of Culina Health, and the newest member of GEM’s Scientific Advisory Board, an ever-evolving collective of experts that help inform our formulations. Vanessa received her MS in Marketing at NYU and completed her Dietetic Internship at Mount Sinai Hospital where she worked as a Senior Dietitian for five years. She is certified in Adult Weight Management by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and her work in private practice also includes treatment of GI disorders, bariatric surgery, weight management, PCOS, and family nutrition. She loves helping clients take an active role in their health journey, motivating them and ensuring that they always achieve success. Dr. Ruhoy is a board-certified neurologist, who works with chronic and complex diseases. She runs her own private practice, where she treats her patients with an integrative approach and helps them with the prevention of illness and disease. Dr Ruhoy also serves as the Medical Director of the Connective Tissue Disorder Center at Mt Sinai South Nassau. She works with wellness groups and organizations to promote ways of healthy living including nutrition, movement, supplements, sleep, and stress management. She has a PhD in environmental toxicology, and carries the awareness of the toxicity of our environment into her health and treatment practices.

Rachelle Robinett, RH (AHG). Rachelle is a Clinical Herbalist, writer, educator, thought-leader, and life-long naturalist. From growing up on a farm in the Pacific Northwest to working in fashion in NYC, she is an embodiment of the vibrant, modern, multi-hyphenate well-being she teaches. Rachelle has amassed thousands of hours of teaching, speaking, publishing, and private practice experience, and has worked with more than 100 brands and companies as a consultant, advisor, creator, and partner. She is widely regarded as a vanguard in natural health, and frequently collaborates with industry-leading partners to participate in shaping the future of herbal wellness and related industries.

Rachelle is dedicated to exploring the human experience and translating the journey’s insights into the project of furthering the cause of empowered, self-aware, and natural health.

Richard Bruno, PhD, RD, is a Professor of Human Nutrition and Director of the Bionutrition Core Laboratory at The Ohio State University. His research focuses on phytochemical bioavailability, anti-inflammatory functional foods, vitamin E requirements, and cardiometabolic health, with more than 120 peer-reviewed publications. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of Nutrition Research and is a leader in translating nutrition science into evidence-based dietary guidance.

Microalgae

Dr. Grossman brings an impressive background and storied career in the biology field, especially regarding microalgae to his advisory role at GEM. He has been a Staff Scientist at The Carnegie Institution for Science, Department of Plant Biology since 1982, and holds a courtesy appointment as Professor in the Department of Biology at Stanford University. He has performed research across fields ranging from plant biology, microbiology, marine biology, ecology, genomics, engineering and photosynthesis and initiated large scale algal genomics by leading the Chlamydomonas genome project. In 2002 he received the Darbaker Prize (Botanical Society of America) for work on microalgae and in 2009 received the Gilbert Morgan Smith Medal (National Academy of Sciences) for the quality of his publications on marine and freshwater algae. He has been Co-Editor in Chief of Journal of Phycology since 2013 and has served on the editorial boards of many well-respected biological journals including the Annual Review of Genetics, Plant Physiology, Eukaryotic Cell, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Molecular Plant, and Current Genetics.

Erin Skinner, MS, RD, LDN, IFNCP is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Integrative and Functional Nutrition Certified Practitioner.  She is the founder of Thrive, a group functional nutrition practice in Southern Pines, NC.  Erin and her team empower their clients to leverage the power of nutrition to optimize their wellness, all with the use of their insurance benefits.   Erin is also a military veteran with 14 years of healthcare experience.  She holds an MS in Integrative Physiology and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Clinical Nutrition (DCN) from Rutgers University. Erin enjoys spreading the power of nutrition by education of both the public and other practitioners.  She is an experienced public speaker, hosts the Empowered Nutrition Podcast, and also teaches other nutrition practitioners on the topic of GI-specific nutrition as co-founder of the SIBO Academy (www.SIBOAcademy.com).

Dr. Posewitz is a professor of Chemistry at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO. The research laboratory he works in has studied algal biotechnology for over 20 years and published more than 75 peer-reviewed manuscripts in this area. Dr. Posewitz has a Ph.D. in chemistry from Dartmouth College.
